Attitude, a perspective

Attitude, a perspective...

Last month when I came back from work in the evening, my 7 year old daughter handed this drawing to me and said when I grow up I want to work for PUMEX Technologies. I looked at the drawing and was really surprised by her thinking and creativity. I hung the drawing in my home office and I let her know that PUMEX continues to be a great company and you will be proud to work for it when you grow up. She was so excited to hear that.

As the CEO of PUMEX, I am here to protect that dream and continue to help our clients attain their business goals. At PUMEX we share a philosophy being a responsible corporation on a mission to help fellow human beings to thrive.

In the light of creating a great company, I have been thinking about what makes a company great?

Everyday you and I live in a highly competitive, extremely busy environment. Many times we forget the purpose of our lives and we move mechanically to fulfill our daily goals. We forget to love, respect & inspire others and we create our own selfish eco system and close the doors behind us. Moreover we forget to live! The answer to my opening question is "great company comes from great people". Wow, then how do we create great people? Great people come from great minds. Well then, how do we find great minds?

The simple answer to the question is “attitude”.

I came to realize this word “attitude” has a lot of meaning and perspectives. When we adjust our attitude a tiny bit, things around us change. It’s the same way a 2ยบ steering angle turns your car when you drive fast. I would say great attitude contains love, respect, care for others, balance with yourself, and balance with nature, interest in other people, and appreciation for simple things in life.

When you treat others the way you would like to be treated that's called great attitude. When you show interest in other people and their well-being, yours will be naturally aligned for you. That’s the natural law. Don’t just look for your miracle or solution, become someone’s solution or miracle today.

How can we change? If we look at the world and great, successful people, all things started out with simple ideas and small initiatives (whether it’s good or bad). Make small changes in your lives and you will see big results over time. This simple principle can be applied to any person or any institutions. Simple changes (both mental and physical or both attitude and actions) are easy to do and easy to follow through on a consistent basis. Do it until it becomes a second nature to you. Decision is the key.

I am going to end this article with a powerful reflection by Dalai Lama which he quotes "Man sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices his money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present and the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never lived”.

  1. Thank you for your great post. I believe that the key success factor of business and our life are all about "attitude". As we live in busy life, we tend to forget smile, appreciate and respect others. Just a small change can bring more than a miracle. That's what I am doing right now in my life. Trying to make a small change to improve my mindset and bring a positive attitude, and hopefully I can pass on to others.
